“The Obey Icon Face evolved at the end of 1995 into early 1996 out of the desire to move further away from an association with Andre the Giant and toward a more universal “Big Brother” (as in George Orwell’s 1984) image. I had become fascinated by the power of the streamlined graphic approach of the Russian Constructivist posters and wanted an icon that would integrate into work of this style. In the beginning of my street art campaign, I had been generating and proliferating propaganda using pop culture associations, but I had become more interested in commenting on propaganda with art having a direct stylistic parallel. The Obey Icon Face suited this need perfectly and with the Obey red box logo, inspired by Barbara Kruger, incorporated, the style and message of the design were complementary. The concept behind Obey is to provoke people who typically complain about life’s circumstances but don’t question things more deeply, to have to confront their own obedience. Obey is a very sarcastic form of reverse psychology.”

Domestic orders ship via USPS or UPS Ground, and typically arrive within 1–4 days.
International orders are shipped via FedEx and usually arrive in 4–6 days.
Expedited shipping is available at checkout.

Care Instructions
To ensure your print arrives safely and remains in perfect condition, please follow these unpacking instructions:
1. Remove the tape carefully
– Locate the tab at one end of the tape and gently peel it away from the kraft paper.
– Avoid tearing the paper or damaging the print.
– Do not use utility knives or sharp tools.
– Do not attempt to remove the print before the tape is fully removed.
2. Unroll the print
– Lay it onto a clean, flat surface.
– Place a heavy object on each corner as you unroll to help flatten curled edges.
– This will prepare the print for storage or framing.

We recommend storing your print flat, using acid-free archival paper or plastic. For long-term care and display, consult a professional framer for the best preservation solutions.
